I was happy with the editing from McFarland Books. I always get a little nervous handing my writing over to someone else, but they caught things I had completely missed and made everything read a lot cleaner without making it feel like it wasn’t mine anymore. We had a few back-and-forth emails, and I appreciated that things stayed clear and easy to follow, which was reassuring. Overall, the edit felt careful, helpful, and respectful of my voice. I’d use them again.

Well... the book itself was fine, but the shipping cost was way too high. It actually ended up costing more to ship it than to buy the book.

I ordered a used book from mcfarlandbooks.com and was surprised by how nice it looked when it arrived. The cover had barely any wear, the pages were clean, and there weren’t any weird smells, notes, or markings inside.

The packaging was simple but did the job and kept the book safe. I’m happy with the order and would buy from them again, though if future used books showed up in rough shape, I’d probably have to look somewhere else

The book itself was totally fine, no real complaints there. But returning it turned into this whole refund circus. It took weeks to get my money back, and I had to email them twice just to get things moving. Not a total disaster, but definitely annoying.

Just a quick warning for anyone ordering this, the box showed up dented when it arrived. Nothing too dramatic, but the packaging was only okay and didn’t seem very protected

The payment options felt limited. They make everything sound nice and smooth in the usual polished company way, but when I actually went to check out, there just weren’t many choices...

Just a heads up for anyone expecting lots of ebook options: the book selection is good, but the ebook availability is really hit or miss. I found a few titles I wanted, only to realize they were print only, which was frustrating. The site itself works fine and is easy enough to use, but if you mainly read digitally, you might want to double-check before getting your hopes up.

Customer service got back to me fast. I think it was the next day. They explained what was going on. It was clear and easy.
I’m giving 4 stars because the tracking could be better. But the support was friendly. And they did help me out.

I didn’t expect to find much when I first checked out McFarland Books, but I was surprised by how many oddly specific titles they have. Stuff like old TV shows, baseball history, film studies, and other niche topics I usually can’t track down anywhere else. The site itself is simple, nothing flashy, but that’s fine with me. The real draw is the selection, and it’s a lot better than I thought it would be.

My book actually got here sooner than I figured it would, so I can’t really complain. The tracking was decent, though it did kind of lag at one point, which I’m blaming on the shipping carrier being slow to update things. Overall, not perfect, but good.

I get that these things happen, I guess, but the stock updates really need to be more accurate. Ended up just feeling like a waste of time

I was let down when I got this book. The print quality just looked rough, like really rough. Some of the pages were faded, and then other parts looked way too dark, especially a few of the images where I could barely make out what I was looking at.
For what I paid, I expected it to look a lot better. It was readable, sure, but it kept feeling like a cheap copy instead of a proper finished book. The faded pages, the dark images, the overall cheap-looking print quality, it was just disappointing.
